Every dollar donated to Lei Lei's Legacy is one more dog rescued, healed, and given a second chance—just like the incredible pups below.
Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver came to Hearts & Bones at the end of March from Dallas Animal Services (DAS), right around the same time Lei Lei’s Legacy launched. She was listed as an "owner surrender," although the person who brought her in wasn't her actual owner—but they kindly agreed to foster her through her stray hold. Thanks to that, Mary Oliver never had to set foot in the shelter, which was a big help to DAS.
Unfortunately, she arrived at Hearts & Bones with severe diarrhea and vomiting, requiring an urgent care visit. Because of Lei Lei’s Legacy, they knew they had the resources to help her right away. With lots of love and support from her foster, Mary Oliver recovered quickly. She also showed signs of an upper respiratory infection, but some steamy bathroom sessions cleared that up naturally.
Just last week, she got a full glow-up from Bushwick Bark. Now she’s feeling better than ever—and we can't wait for this sweet girl to find the forever home she deserves.
Sam Nivola
Sam Nivola, a four-year-old Great Pyrenees, came into Hearts & Bones care from Dallas Animal Services (DAS) at the end of March. This gentle giant was struggling with upper respiratory symptoms, including a persistent cough and concerning lung sounds.
When the initial medication wasn’t helping, Sam visited the vet for a follow-up. After a week on doxycycline with no improvement, he was clinically diagnosed with possible pneumonia. The vet prescribed Clavamox, a stronger antibiotic often used for tougher upper respiratory infections. Thankfully, with the new treatment plan, Sam made a full recovery.
Hearts & Bones is incredibly grateful to have Lei Lei’s Legacy funds on hand to step in quickly for dogs like Sam when they need extra care. On April 21st, Sam was adopted into a loving forever home—and we couldn’t be happier for him.
Wyatt
Wyatt, a young terrier mix, came to DAS at the end of March. He needed to go to Dallas Urgent Care due to pneumonia related to URI symptoms. He is feeling so much better now and will be transferred soon to our partners at a receiving rescue.
